IBR & Steam-Line Components

Category: IBR • 12 Nov 2025
IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) and steam-line components are part of a system that generates and transports high-pressure steam safely, with IBR setting the standards for their design, materials, and construction. Key components include the boiler, which produces the steam, and the steam piping network that distributes it. The network includes pipes, headers, and various fittings like valves and steam traps, along with accessories such as pressure gauges, temperature sensors, and insulation.
IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations)

Steam Pipes and Tubes: Conduct steam, made from materials like carbon steel and designed to withstand high pressure and temperature.Steam Header: A manifold that distributes steam from the main pipe to various branches and equipment.Valves: Control the flow and pressure of steam and allow sections to be isolated for maintenance.Steam Traps: Remove condensate from the steam system to improve efficiency.Superheaters and Economizers: Components that further heat the steam or pre-heat the boiler feed water.Steam Receivers and Separators: Vessels used to receive and separate steam or condensate.Instrumentation:Pressure Gauges: Monitor pressure.Temperature Sensors: Measure steam temperature.Insulation: Applied to pipes to reduce heat loss and improve energy efficiency.
